Sony A7s vs Panasonic GH4
Many photographers interested in shooting footage with their DSLR’s have been able to cross over and explore filming on their existing camera. If you are already a seasoned photographer then the chances are you have some pretty decent glass to go with your camera. The Canon DSLR’s with good lenses created some beautiful footage.
But what’s new in the world digital video and film? Well, quite a lot actually, ever since the emergence of the Black Magic 2.5k Cinema camera with 13 stops of dynamic range the ability to shoot raw and then lately the 4k production camera, creating stunning commercial grade footage has become much more viable and affordable.
Similar cameras shooting at the level of the Black Magic but almost £20,000 are the Red and Arri Alexa range. Whilst not quite there yet the Black Magic came in at under £3000 although you do need to build in a budget for extras.
Now in 2015 we see the likes of the Panasonic GH4 and Sony A7s we are seeing 4k resolution and an amazing ability in low light which in truth has never been seen before….and the really interesting bit? the prices.
